NOAH BOPP… EDUCATOR AND ETHICAL LEADER FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

Today the Character Building Project profiles one of the younger members of the “character community,” namely; Noah Bopp, the Founder and Director of the School for Ethics and Global Leadership. Noah is an extraordinary talented educator and well-accomplished fellow for a man of his young age.  While Noah has 14 years of teaching experience, he has already established an accomplished track record of extraordinary leadership skills, most recently at SEGL, where he teaches English, Ethics & Leadership.

From 2002-5, Noah directed the History program and served as a dorm parent at The Mountain School of Milton Academy, a semester program in Vermont. In 2002, he founded the Duke University TIP (Talent Identification Program) Global Dialogues Institute; he had co-founded the Duke TIP in Paris program in 2001.  He began his teaching career at St. George’s School in Newport, Rhode Island, where he taught history and philosophy, and chaired the school’s Community Service Council.  Noah holds a BA in Philosophy and Law from Oberlin College, an MAT from Duke University, and an Ed.M. in Private School Leadership from the Klingenstein Program at Teachers College, Columbia University.

In 2010, the American Assembly selected him as a Next Generation Fellow. The American Assembly, a non-partisan public policy forum, was founded in 1950 by Dwight D. Eisenhower and has become his most enduring achievement and legacy as university president. In his memoirs, Eisenhower acknowledged that the Assembly had far exceeded his expectations. [1] In 2006, The American Assembly’s Next Generation Project set out to discover fresh perspectives about U.S. global policy by identifying and engaging the best emerging young talent from a wide range of vocations and regions of the country growing in economic and political importance. The American Assembly convened three-day meetings in Dallas for the Southwest, San Diego for the West Coast, Denver for the Mountain States, and Chicago for the Midwest. Nearly three hundred of the country’s brightest emerging leaders with a diverse range of views and interests, and from multiple professional, geographic, and demographic backgrounds, were identified as Next Generation Project Fellows and participated in the Assemblies.

The School for Ethics and Global Leadership (SEGL) is a selective semester-away program for motivated high school juniors who represent the diversity of the United States. SEGL selects students who have shown outstanding character, promise for leadership, and scholastic ability and provide them with a unique curriculum that emphasizes ethical thinking skills, leadership development, and international affairs. More information about SEGL is available at www.schoolforethics.org.
