There is no education like adversity. — Benjamin Disraeli

Rick Santorum: A Man for All Seasons

Rick is unusual in that his faith in God grew as he served in the U.S. Senate. His strong support of the right to life and willingness to be a leader in the country’s cultural wars likely cost Rick his re-election to a third term in the senate, but Rick stands firm in having done the right thing. He published his retort to Secretary Hillary Clinton’s book, It Takes a Village, with his own book, It Takes a Family. Throughout Rick’s time in office and after leaving public service, he has continued to fight for prolife issues.

Rick looks to John Adams’ view, in 1798, he said this, as President: “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.”

Rick last race reminds me a bit of Thomas More struggles with Henry the VIII; Rick did lose the senate seat but kept his head… Rick recalls…“I try to look at success as Thomas More would: through the eyes of God, as opposed to through the eyes of man. If you look at success through the eyes of God, then it is very easy to figure out the virtues that lead you to success. If you look at success through the eyes of man, you are caught with the reality, particularly today, of how fallen man really is.”
