Chuck Manatt: Not for Himself but for the Whole World
Chuck’s extraordinarily diverse career in law, politics, banking and farming has always involved service to others. Fittingly, his high school’s motto was, “Not for your self, but for the whole world.” Chuck’s various successes were in no small part due to the importance he placed on his childhood participation in the Future Farmers of America and the Boy Scouts. The Future Farmers of America do more than just teach about livestock and grain; they work to remind their members about the importance of hard work not just to succeed in life, but as the means to provide for others and make a positive contribution for society. Still a farmer, Chuck generously learns to earn, earns to live, and lives to serve.
Yet, despite his involvement in law, banking, and politics, Chuck never forgot his roots in Iowa. Chuck believes in the goodness of people and in helping those in need. Throughout his life, Chuck’s career reflects a commitment to helping those who are less fortunate. This Iowa farmer truly has lived by the Future Farmers’ creed. He has learned to earn, earned to live, and lived to serve.
People who I meet from Boy Scouts and Future Farmers for America rarely disappoint.
